AREA REPORTS
NICOYA (N)
** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -
We've had a very different surf situation every day for almost a week
now. The swell keeps changing direction and the wind keeps surprising
us with its direction and intensity. Every year we get something
similar during this powerful solstice moon. Sometimes it even rains.
Yesterday was perfect in the head high range, although a little
inconsistent. Clear turquoise water, light off shores all day, light
crowd, and powerful fast sets brought us an early Christmas present.
The sand in Playa Grande is reasonably flat and in OK condition to
handle just about any swell.
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de semana (clima y olas): The high tide is in the afternoon so if
the wind holds and the swell stays strong, Playa Grande will fire.
BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: Even some of the weird spots
have been good.
** From Coconut Harry in Playa Guiones (Nosara) -
Feliz Navidad! Shoulder to head-high here - lotsa fun from the NW
swell. Hope Santa is good to you - Pura Vida, amigo! Lessons are
$25/hour when you rent a board from Coconut Harry's Surf Shop - visit
me at www.coconutharrys.com
JACO & HERMOSA
** From Tommy at Rancho Coral in Esterillos -
Local Climate: Night, Air Temp: 91F. Water Temp 87F, Direction &
Height: SW+WNW 4ft Plus (from the back of the wave) Sea Surface:
Glass, Wind: South 0-3 MPH, Sunrise: 5:53 AM,Sunset: 5:26 PM, Current
Conditions: We have the most awsome of conditions for this Christmas
Eve. No Crowds and a raging Sou'wester. We surfed low tide at a
secret spot with Tahitian Style Barrels (the right featured in our
video Crazy Gringos) and came back to The Ranch for a Freestyle
Festival that was very aerial, Looks like it'll hold through the
weekend. Crowds should arrive tomorrow. Congrats to our Groms for
cleaning the podium in Tamarindo, Have a Merry Christmas, PURA
VIDA!!!! Pick up your copy of the 2005 Sportsgirls Calendar to

QUEPOS & MANUEL ANTONIO
DOMINICAL & OSA
** From Brice at Land Assurance in Dominical -
AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Wave hights are swelling to
occational head high (finally) but are coming in at 210 degrees
(square to the beach for close outs). On shore wind is low so the
shoulders are fast but good. Low tide is closed. Three hours on
either side of high tide is workable. Too small for Punta Dominical.
mejor. Demasiado pequeño para Punto Dominical.
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - The same.
BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - Playa Dominical or
Playa Hermosa.
area: Playa Dominical o Playa Hermosa
NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Crazy parties at night. Lots of tourists
and locals at the beach during the day. Crowded surf at Dominical.
