=v= I'm probably going to regret this, as this is a thread
created by a chronic troller for the purpose of attracting
attention to himself (and his "Triad"), and my usual advice
is to ignore him. This guy goes by two identities, the
supposedly-good "Tom" and supposedly-bad "Bubba," so that
when the former gets unsubscribed from an email list (not
an unusual occurrence), he can use the latter to flame the
list a little more.
=v= I filtered him out years ago and am only aware of his
presence when others respond to him. Or, as in this case,
when he subscribes to some new lists and starts ranting
about "C******* M***" and "_Jym_" and people forward his
messages to me asking what the heck he's talking about.
> What's with the rant at the bottom of your email? I was
> only talking about the triad.
=v= The purpose of any troll's rant is to garner attention.
The "yuppies drive their cars to Critical Mass" thing is one
of those urban myths. I remember it being promulgated by the
teevee media in San Francisco in 1997 during that city's biggest
Critical Mass -- over 7000 bikes -- apparently unaware that
there's no place to park that many cars anywhere near the ride's
starting point. (The same was claimed about the biggest CM in
New York City last year, where parking is even more impossible.)
=v= The rant about me, personally, was so loony I searched the
CarFree archives to see what he was talking about. Apparently
Mr. BumpkinFrost got his lycra in a bunch over the fact that I
went to NYC in the summer of 2003 to read from and sign copies
of the Critical Mass book. He jumped to the conclusion that
I flew there and, apparently, drove cars or somesuch nonsense.
=v= I missed his ravings then because, as I said, I've got him
filtered out, but anyone who actually cares and has a passing
familiarity with a search engine knows that my Bike Friday fits
in a suitcase, which doubles as a bike trailer, obviating any
need to drive a car to the airport -- or, as is my practice,
to the train station.
=v= So, two years later, he's misremembering his own babblings
as something I wrote. Which is really about all you need to
know about this character: he's not someone to rely on for
intelligent discourse. *Plonk* and ignore, and you and your
email list will be much happier for it.
<_Jym_>
P.S.: He will, undoubtedly, retaliate to this message by
posting yet more of the same, probably to a dozen email lists.
Such is the way of the troll. *Plonk* and ignore.
