Well, the South St. Louis Corkball League held it's 29th annual
corkball tournament Saturday August 4th. The 11 team tournament was
won by Sprotmans Corkball League.

Lemay Corkball had battled through the losers bracket in this double
elimination tournament and beat Sportmans in the first of two to
determine the champ. But Lemay's pitching wore thin and Spotrsmas
was able to win the second game on a game ending tripel. Congradts
to Sportsman!

Sportsmans Corkball League took first, Lemay Corkball League took
second, & South St. Louis Corkball League took third.

In the South St. Louis Corkball league, It's come down to a two team
race
for league pennant and jacket winners. Colonial Morturaries and
Reinhold Electric are in a tie for first with just 6 games remaining.

Both teams are led by rookie pitchers. Colinial's Wade Baxter has
pitched 128 innings with a league leading .059 ERA. Electric's Jason
Vilmer has pitched 80 innings with a .075 ERA. Jason is a second
generation corkball player and has followed his father Jeff Vilmer
into the league.

Electric has also seen veteran pitcher and future hall of famer Tim
Kobler pitch 55 innings with 9 wins 2 ties and only 1 loss. Tim's
performance is one of the reasons the team is tied for first.

Good luck to all.
