Controversy for the South St. Louis Club   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #263 of 331 |
With only 8 games left in the regular season Ziegnehein leads the
jacket race by three points over the controversial old-timers team
(Reinhold Electric). And, at the August meeting, a member of the
Ziegenhein team was booted from the club due to his not showing for
almost two months. Thus he was replaced by a former member (as per
our By-laws) Andy Yanick, a .400 hitting catcher. Yanick was on top
of the waiting list.

There was a long discussion at the August meeting about what to do
with the Zeigenhein player and the Board, in a 5 to 4 vote, decided
to boot the player. The discussion centered over giving the league
leaders a quality player this late in the season. But the by-laws
state that when there is an opening on a roster the next player takes
his place.

A number of the old-timers were discusted with the decision and
voiced their opinion out loud at the following Wednesday night game.
In fact, the league President who lead the discussion and supported
the decision was hit once by a pitch and had another thrown just
behind his head as he batted against the old-timers last Wednesday.

You know, the old-timers argued early this season, against the wishes
of many members, for an old-timers team. They asked for and received
arguably the best pitcher and catcher in the league and stated that
they only wanted them because they were freinds and they wanted to
play together with their friends just one more time before they
retired. They also told the club that winning did not matter to them
and they didn't even want jackets if they won the league. All they
cared about was playing together with some of their friends, not
winning the league.

WELL, I THINK YOU OLDTIMERS PULLED THE WOOL OVER OUR EYES. YOU DID
WANT A KILLER TEAM. YOU DID WANT TO WIN THE JACKETS. IT'S OBVIOUS
NOW THAT YOUR CYRING ABOUT THE BOARD DECISION AND ACTING AND PITCHING
LIKE YOU ARE. SURE ZIEGENHEIN GOT A GOOD PLAYER, BUT LOOK WHO YOU
GOT, THE BEST PITCHER IN THE LEAGUE (0.04 ERA), ONE OF THE BEST
CATCHERS IN THE LEAGUE (.400 AVE), A SECOND-LINE PITCHER AND GOOD
HITTER (.365 AVE. 0.00 ERA.)AND OTHER QUALITY HITTERS. SO STOP YOUR
CRYING AND STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND HAVE FUN LIKE YOU SAID YOU WANTED
TO HAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BOO HOO!
