We showed up for league play July 3rd to find that the Parks
Depertment had closed our fields due to a fireworks display being put
on at the Park. Thus, all games were canceled that night. Boy were
we mad! But, we made the best of it. A group of us went to the
softball fields and played some pick-up ball. And, of course, had a
few cold ones. Nanook even provided some homemade brew that was
quite refreshing.
I did speak with the Parks Department about the cancelation and was
told that they received a call on the morning of July 3rd complaining
that it would be too dangerous for the corkballers to play with the
fireworks and all going on. The person calling would only identify
himself as TK. I found it funny that anyone would want the games
canceled until I looked at the schedule and noticed that the second
place Flooring boys led by pitcher Tim Kobler were playing the first
place Electric boys led by the dominating Mike Jockish. Tim Kobler &
TK. Could it be one in the same? I doubt it. But you never know.
Meanwhile, the Kriegshauser boys will try to get back into the
pennant race this week as they take on Nanook and the Wintergreen
Development team. Speaking of development, you Wintergreen boys
better get to the batting cages and "develope" your ability to hit
the ball and inprove you team .213 batting average. If not, It could
be a long hot night behind the plate Nanook.
