Yes the St. Louis game is dying compared to the old days when there
were numerous leagues playing in bars and cages. However, it still
thrives with four organized leagues (South St. Louis Corkball League,
Sportsmans Corkball League, Lemay Corkball League, and Gateway
Corkball League) boasting over twenty-six teams and approx. 200
players. The Tower Grove fields have gone to heck because the
Sportsmans Corkball Club moved from tower Grove to Jefferson Barracks
last year. But you can still find corkballers there on weekends.
There are still four sets of actual corkball fields left in the city
and of course, you can play on any ballfield. You just weren't
looking in the right places. Next time your in town (I assume you
were visiting St. Louis ) bring your Glenridge crew down to our
fields at Jefferson Barracks for a game. Do you guys use real
markwort corkballs and corkball bats out there in Calif or what? How
does the game compare to the original played here in St. Louis? I'm
glad to see the game thrives outside of St. Louis. If your around in
August, our club will be hosting the 24th annual Don Young Corkball
Tournament. This is the world series of corkball. Maybe you can put
a team in?
