I grew up all over St. Louis north of Tower
Grove, Pine Lawn, St. Ann, but most of the later years
Dutchtown thats why I got to go to Soldan High, you've
heard of that place I'm sure.

First off I agree
why play a game if you can't get or don't have the
proper equipment. You need a good backstop to keep balls
from getting trashed, lost, or warped(just hit those
mushballs MW used to sell once, and they were done). V
there has to be some place cheaper to get balls check
out justballs.com they might have a better deal.
We've beean around for awhile so we've got
connections(that reminds I've got to order ours for this year)
that get us a good price.

Second fielding a
team could be hard. I remember my first game(a league
game at that) I didn't have a clue of what to expect
and was pretty much outmatched for my first 2 or 3
years. I was as close to quiting as you can get, if
wasn't for Don Young(bow your head in honor of Mr.
Corkball please) telling me "your fine just keep doing the
right things", every week I probably would
have.
Having played fuzz for years hitting close to 400 with
power it sucks to hit around 200 and not make solid
contact. We've lost alot of players for that reason they
can't handle not kicking butt so they move on.

Third protection is the name of the game for us
backstops. I used to wear the chest protector but it gets to
much in the dog days. I do use flooring pads on my
knees(yea we all have F''ed up knees), but the mask is most
important I couldn't handle a nice 80 mph fast ball fouled
off my face. One thing Harry always tells the new
guys is after you give your sign take your hand and
shove your thumb up your ass. What he means is keep
your hand behind you at all costs cuz that foul will
hurt and might even break something('sides good
catchers don't need to catch with both hands). Well gotta
get back to work we'll be in touch. Don't forget
first weekend in August SSLCC Tourny. Booo where are
you?
