Here's how Corey did against the Cincinnati Reds today, April 27:

5 at bats
2 runs
3 hits
1 home run
2 RBI's
no strikeouts

From Cubs.com:
The red-hot Lee drove in six runs to match a career high and Corey Patterson smacked a walk-off home run with one out in the ninth to power the Chicago Cubs to an 8-7 victory Wednesday over the Cincinnati Reds.
"He's got a long way to go, but that's a great start," Baker said (about Lee). "I'm just glad he's swinging the bat the way he is. He's very cool and calm and going about his business."  So was Patterson in the ninth. With the game tied and one out, Patterson launched an 0-1 pitch from Cincinnati's Matt Belisle (1-3) for his fifth home run. It was the first Cubs walk-off homer since Patterson did so last Sept. 14 against Pittsburgh.

"It was a fat changeup up in the zone, just right there for him," Belisle said. "It's as simple as that, really. It's just really as simple as one bad pitch that went over the fence and we didn't have any more chances."

"In the bottom of the ninth, I just told myself to get a good pitch to hit and keep my head on the ball," Patterson said. "That's what I've been working on is keeping things simple."

Patterson's approach, helped by hitting coach Gene Clines, is to focus on how he prepares for each at-bat and not worry about the results.

"If I stay consistent, it shows up on the field," Patterson said.

And getting the game-winner is an added bonus.

"As a Major League player, that's definitely one of the things you want to do is hit a game-winning homer," he said. "It doesn't get much bigger than that."

From Yahoo! sports:

Derrek Lee had to share his big day with Corey Patterson. Lee hit two home runs and tied a career high with six RBIs, and Patterson hit a game-winning homer to give the Chicago Cubs a wild 8-7 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday. Lee was on-deck when Patterson ended it in the ninth with his fifth homer.

``It didn't really matter who steals the show, as long as we win the show,'' Cubs manager Dusty Baker said. ``That was great. D-Lee driving in all those runs put us in the position for Corey to do that.''

Patterson connected off Matt Belisle (1-3) after Neifi Perez popped up a bunt to start the inning. Patterson was mobbed and knocked down at home plate by his teammates.

``It doesn't get much better than that,'' he said.

The Cubs hadn't won a game on a home run since Patterson did it on Sept. 14, 2004 against Pittsburgh.

GREAT game for Corey! The Cubs won 8-7!

Current stats:
.299, 5 HR, 10 RBI, 1 SB
