From SI.com:
With Chicago clinging to a 3-2 lead thanks to Corey Patterson 's leadoff homer in the eighth inning, Hawkins retired Tike Redman to start the ninth. But Bay belted a 1-0 offering over the right field wall to draw Pittsburgh even. Pirates closer Jose Mesa made things interesting in the bottom of the ninth, allowing a one-out single by Neifi Perez and a two-out base hit by pinch hitter Ben Grieve to put runners on the corners. But Patterson was unable to duplicate his earlier heroics, striking out on
three pitches to end the game and seal Mesa's sixth save in as many chances.
The Cubs lost 4-3:(
One more thing...I was looking at Yahoo! sports today, and they always have the individual leaders posted for each team. Corey is leading the team for runs (12) and tied with Derrek Lee for home runs (4).
