Here's how Corey did against the Cincinnati Reds yesterday, April 18:

5 at bats
1 run
3 hits!
1 home run
1 RBI
no strikeouts

From Cubs.com:
Corey Patterson and Aramis Ramirez hit consecutive home runs to put the Cubs ahead, 2-0. It was the first set of back-to-back homers for the Cubs since Sept. 27.

From Yahoo! sports:
Corey Patterson, Aramis Ramirez and Burnitz also homered off Belisle, who moved into the rotation because Ramon Ortiz is disabled by a strained groin. Thousands of Cubs fans in the stands reveled as Belisle gave up three homers and a double off the wall in a 17-pitch sequence of the first inning. Patterson started it with a two-out homer to right, Ramirez then hit one to left, and Burnitz doubled off the wall in left.
From SI.com:
Wood was staked to a 4-0 lead before even taking the mound as Corey Patterson , Aramis Ramirez and Derrek Lee hit first-inning homers off Matt Belisle . LaRue then drilled a 3-2 pitch from Chicago reliever Jon Leicester (0-2), who had not appeared in a week, over center fielder Corey Patterson 's head to give Cincinnati a 7-5 lead.

The Cubs lost 7-6:(

Here's how Corey did against the Cincinnati Reds today, April 19:

5 at bats
2 runs
2 hits
1 home run
1 RBI
no strikeouts

From Cubs.com:
Behind seven strong innings from Mark Prior and home runs from Corey Patterson, Michael Barrett and Derrek Lee, the Cubs defeated the Reds, 7-1, before a crowd of 25,373 at Great American Ball Park on Tuesday. Patterson hit a solo home run in the first inning off Reds starting pitcher Brandon Claussen to give the Cubs a 1-0 lead.

From Yahoo! sports:
Corey Patterson started Chicago's three-homer burst and made two catches against the wall that pulled Mark Prior through an ominous first inning Tuesday night, steadying the Cubs to a 7-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. Ken Griffey Jr. hit a fly ball that Patterson caught with his shoulder shoved into the padding left of the 404-foot marker. It was the closest Griffey has come to a homer all year.

After Sean Casey lined out, Joe Randa hit a drive to the right of the 404-foot marker. Patterson ran it down, lunged at the wall and snared the ball just before slamming hard into the padding. He landed awkwardly on his back and did a backward roll, but held onto the ball.

The crowd of 25,373 gave Patterson an ovation as he ran off the field, and teammates waited in front of the Cubs' dugout to congratulate him on the catch.

Patterson homered in the first, and the Cubs scored three more in the third. Prior led off with a single, Jerry Hairston doubled and Patterson reached on an infield single, loading the bases. Aramis Ramirez's broken-bat single to center drove in two runs, and Patterson continued home when Griffey's short-hop throw to Randa at third bounced away for an error.

From SI.com:

After Corey Patterson staked Prior to a 1-0 lead with his third home run in the top of the first inning, Ramirez made it 3-0 with a two-run single two innings later. A throwing error by center fielder Ken Griffey Jr. on Ramirez's base hit enabled Patterson to score the fourth run of the game.

Whew, a lot of Corey news! The Cubs won 7-1!
(How come I always miss Corey's home runs?!)

Current stats:
.306, 3 HR, 7 RBI, 1 SB
