Karen,
Thanks for the guidance regarding Allegany State Park. The link you provided was
very informative. We haven't decided if we are going ito Allegany or over to
Canaan Valley. Should be a good weekend either way.

Hi Group,

We enjoy trails that are of moderate or higher difficulty - we like a
good work out on hills. What places do you folks recommend in NE
Ohio?
So far I've gotten recommendations for Chapin Forest in Kirtland and
Holden Arboreteum. Any thoughts?
Oh - also, have any of you been to Allegany State Park in SW New York
or Laural Ridge State Park in SW Pennsylavania for Cross countrying?
Thanks in advance,

Hi Eric,
Yes, I've been to Allegany State Park. They have great cross-country skiing with
some nice hills. It's really a pretty area.

Hi Glenn,
I would like to be added to the list and am looking forward to any
skiing activity around Ohio.
I use my roller-skis actively in the summer, but there is nothing
that can substitute for a good back-country trek.
Looking forward to hearing from you (as well as other skiers)
Lars

lot like sex... even when it's bad... it's good!!

Morning everyone...
I have a ski trip leaving this Saturday morning for a week in Whistler if
anyone is interested! I had someone bail yesterday and need to fill the spot. We
have 11 spots (and 10 people going so far), a 3,000 sf home rented less than
60 seconds from the base of the Blackcomb lift.
Email me for more info! The people going are partiers and intermediate to
advanced skiers...

Hello Lars,
Thanks for keeping in touch. Skiing locally is not looking good right now. I
hope you were able to get out when snow was on the ground briefly. We do have
two trips coming up, Wilderness Lodge to Pennsylvania and Winter Getaway II to
West Virginia. They are on the website. If you like I'll add you to the impromtu
list I am compiling. I will be in Colorado for a two week trip which will
involve some winter camping on skis and another event guiding blind skiers at
Snow Mountain Ranch north of Winter Park, Colorado. I'd be interested to know
about any ski adventures you have planned for this winter. Be well, Glenn
Beachy

...makes for a good week, even in Ohio. :-)
Sinve the white blanket has laid itself over central Ohio lately, we
have taken full advantage over it.
The kids have been out running almost 50 laps on their crosscountry
skis in the back yard this weekend, and Sunday was spent at the
slopes at Snow Trails.
Yes-yes, it is not alpine skiing at all, but I must say, it is a
great place for kids (and adults alike) to learn, practice and hone
their beginner's technique.
So get out there and take advantage of it, and let the others sit
home and complain about the cold.
Blue skies!!!
Morning everybody...
I have a group that I (loosely) head. There are approx. 120 of us that, over
the years, have gone on our trips together and probably a good, core group of
40 or so that are the "regulars". We snow ski, houseboat, do the King's
Island/Cedar Point weekend thing, whitewater raft, dinners out together, etc.
and we
get together all year long, not just in the winter to ski.
This (and next year's) schedule is:
Jan. 23rd - 26th, 2004 - Holiday Valley skiing for the weekend (15 of us)
June 25th - 29th, 2004 - Key West (19 of us)
August 6th - 9th, 2004 - houseboating on Norrie Lake, KY (44 of us)
October 2004 - tentative Vegas trip in the planning
February 2005 - skiing in S. Lake Tahoe (14 to 20 people)
June 2005 - Put-In-Bay trip (??? people)
In-between those trips, we have get-togethers every couple of months to
party, schedule dinners together, etc. Anything to foster good relationships and
a
fun time!
If anyone has any interest in being invited to the next get-together, drop me
an email and let me know... We are always looking for new blood! The only
prerequisite is that you must be a "participant" and not someone that sits on
their butt and watches everyone else have a good time! (If you go on a ski trip,
you must either ski or tube or take skiing lessons or something... just not
sit at home all day with a book!)
By the way, the other "founding father" of this group is a ski instructor at
Mad River, ironically enough...
Looking forward to hearing from you... jack@...

Hello everyone.
Karen,
Alix and I are going skiing sometime this afternoon. Not sure what

you (we met at the hiking meeting).
Christy and Alix Brucken
Shoot!! Wish I knew before today (Friday) that you were going... I wanted to
but couldn;t find anyone to ski with so I committed to work instead <hurlin'>
What about the next weekend? Or thru the week maybe?

Looking for a female snow skiing, non-smoker to join me for a fun,
playful 3 day weekend in late January skiing at a NY state ski area
with a small group of partiers...
If interested, drop an email to cmhsnowskier@...
Looking forward to hearing from you!
I have a rather large group(20 - 30 people) that I take to Holiday
Valley skiing in January... If anyone is interested, please drop me a
post and I will send you the info on the trip!
Jack
For those who are interested (or curious) about skiing -
alpine skiing, crosscountry skiing, roller skiing, sledding, tubing
and other snow&winter related fun.
This is a new and still small group dedicated to winter fun.
Hope to see this group grow a little and be a forum for sharing
ideas, knowledge and interests.
Now that the season is just over, and you have the memories fresh in
your mind - now is the time to plan for next season!!
Hi there!
I am a Norwegian currently living in Columbus, and I am quite
interested in getting to know other skiing enthusiasts.
I ski myself, but also have two children who enjoy both alpine and
nordic skiing.
Maybe we could drum up some activity in such a club, and be prepared
for next winter?
Blue skies!
Jan Fleischman is heading to White Grass Touring Center in the Canaan Valley of
West Virginia over Superbowl weekend. You'll have to make your own travel
arrangements but if you'd like to join her for some great cross-country skiing
you can contact her at JanFleischm@.... (this is not an official COP trip
but just an fyi) - Glenn Beachy
