Heard back from the NCAA. They changed their mind. Nova can play in
Philly.

I thought that nova kept ithe number of games at the wach under the max.
They played pitt at the spectrum instead of the wachovia center to keep
themselves eligible.
I believe a team is allowed 3 games at a venue, more than 3 makes them
ineligible. Nova plays louisville (1/10), syracuse (2/07) and gtown (2/28)
at the wachovia. Pitt was not at the wachovia, it was at the spectrum. Texas
was at msg, towson and uri were at the palestra. Marquette will be played on
campus.
Has the ncaa ruled that the spectrum counts as the wachovia? I know this has
been an issue for discussion in the past, but I thought the decision went
the other way? They are not the same arena.
Thanks again.

In your host site information, why is villanova listed as a host team in

and nova played few enough games at the wachovia to be eligible to play

Maybe Villanova should change its name and then it would get to play
all its NCAA games close to home on "neutral" courts all over
eastern Pennsylvania. I suggest "Duke" be the new name.

Jerry ,
How come you have two teams under .500 in the Big East at 3-5 ( Notre
Dame and Georgetown ) but you don't have a team over that is 4 games
over .500 ( Providence ) in your Brackett ?
Now that nova has the big win, they should be safe. No bad losses, going to
finish with a strong rpi and high win total.
Its not like they have been losing to random teams. Their 4 losses are to top 15
teams.
The no big wins was a concern, but what could they have done? They ran the big
5 and won their pre-conference tournament (philly classic). The big 5 is weak
this year, and the philly classic turned out to be weak, but they only had one
single digit game in their 12 ooc wins.

I am pondering G'town @ Marquette Saturday, but I haven't cleared that with
the scheduling committee (my wife). Marquette is a bit of a haul for me.
Another "maybe" is Purdue at Illinois next Sunday (2/8). One definite is
Penn St at Purdue on 2/11 because it's on the way to Indy for me. I'm in
Indy on 2/12 for the mock selection meeting. If it wasn't for that, I'd be
at Louisville-ND that night.
Other possibles include Mich St @ Purdue 2/17 (I know, it's a lot of Purdue,
but they are the closest good team to me), UConn @ Marquette 2/25, Mich St @
Illinois on 2/28.
If it looks like Northwestern has a shot at a tournament discussion later in
the season, I might get one of their games. Unfortunately, they host
Illinois on the 12th. Perhaps Ohio St on the 18th or at Purdue on 3/3.
I'm also open to suggestion.

Can somebody please explain to me how any team is on the bubble at the end
of January?
Is the process that the committee is together and putting teams in and out
on a daily basis or does this happen on a weekend when all the conference
tournaments end?

2007 was a disaster in a lot of ways. Worst year for the committee ever.

I still consider 2007 to be a complete disaster. Uva, with a 50+ rpi and a
shady resume, went from a bubble team to a 4 seed thanks to their ad being
on the committee. And no big east representation, and all the big east teams
got hosed (ie, syracuse snub, nova, #19 rpi at a 9 seed.). Craig
littlepaige is a disgrace to all college basketball fans. UVA is a
terrible program, and I always root against them because of 2007. Complete
trash rewarded because of politics. Worse than the year air force landed a
bid because of politics. Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T -----Original

Just a reminder that I am live blogging the Duke-Purdue game tonight (God
willing and the creek don't rise!) from Mackey Arena. The game starts at 8
CT, but I'll probably be on a little earlier than that.

I'll be live blogging from the Duke-Purdue game Tuesday night. It's a
pretty interactive event because of the software I use for the blog, so you
can play along, or just follow along if you like.
The blog page is http://www.collegerpi.com/liveblog.html
You can go there early if you like and set an e-mail reminder for yourself.
Hope you all can participate!

Some of this is still to be decided, but it looks like HBU will not count.
