RE: [collegerpi] Digest Number 278

Since the formula was changed to make the ratio 25-50-25 in 1994, the
highest rated team left out was Oklahoma in 1994. I don't have numbers back
as far as 1992, but that was the last time a ranked team was left out before
Utah St was a couple of years ago. If I'm not mistaken, UNLV was still in
the Big West back than, and it's likely that their league could have dragged
their RPI down.

What is the highest RPI a team ever had and was left out of the tournament
with it being 64 teams? I am guessing UNLV in 1992. I think they were in
the 20' somewhere.

The Pac Ten is getting 3, at the most. So, Cal needs to move solidly ahead
of
Arizona and Stanford at least.

Just my opinion.

Cal has three bad losses including a horrible one to Eastern Michigan,
RPI 302 3-14. It seems to me that wins over the stinky six in the
PAC-10 are meaningless and will do virtually nothing to help and that
it will take at least two wins over the 3 better teams in the
conference to make it in (of course, this does not take the conference
tournament into account). Comments?
