I do know for a fact, the coaches generally do their own poll
themselves....granted they don't research it a ton.


Now to St. Joes...just got done doing some research there.


1)Went 26-7 last year...lost BARELY to Stanford in Regional semis.


2)Only loss is Frank Wilkins, a backup post player


3)Marvin O'Conner and Jameer Nelson is a top-flight backcourt. O'Conner is
a flat out scorer, no other way to describe that. Nelson is a coach's PG
who runs Martelli's system better than anyone else that I've seen.


4)The top five scorers are all back....that's worth something for any
team...experience factor is way underrated imo.


5)Martelli just wins....I've seen him do this before, this is by far the
most talent he's ever had, especially with a signing like Carroll.


My concerns - not sure about rebounding, but the A10 isn't exactly a league
with a ton of monster centers, also they don't have a post offense really.
That will hurt offense rebounding off midrange jumpers probably.


Overall, this team should be good enough to make to the elite 8 or at least
sweet 16.


Are they a traditional top ten, no. Are they good enough this year, yes.
Should they be top ten preseason, maybe...top 15 no doubt.

SIDs have their own poll.


St Joes oughta be a stud program this year, that's my expectation. O'Conner
and Nelson is a great backcourt.


Temple - Greer's a natural leader, if I recall, he played all but about 30
minutes total last season, so he'll be key.


Xavier should be back in the NCAAs imo..those three from the A10

I don't really think these coaches that vote have a
clue. Have you looked at the list of schools these
coaches are from? Most are small D-1 or mid-majors,
who seem to always vote based on popularity and past
performance. St. Joe's #10? Give me a break. The
Big East shoul have a couple more schools in there and
the Big Ten is always over rated if you look at their
post season record as a conference.
