University of the Philippines at Los Baños

The College Country Club, a Tennis club founded in 1964 as a recreational facility for faculty, staff, employees and alumni of the University of the Philippines at Los Banos and institutions located within and around campus like the International Rice Research Institute among several others. Not only a tennis club, the CCC is also an organization that serves the community to which it belongs. The CCC was at the forefront of the yearly Flower and Garden show and actually started it but for the past two decades has ceded control and ownership to the university.
This club has produced local and national champions in tennis and continues to be a relevant and active tennis club in terms of service to the community or university wherein it is situated and in terms of participation in local and regional tennis events and tournaments.
This egroup is composed of members of the CCC, loosely called the Sabado Nights group because of it's habitual weekend tennis and eating and drinking fests. We are composed of 2nd and 3rd generation CCC members, our spouses and children. Members of the CCC Board of Directors are composed almost wholly of Sabado Nights people. Namely: President, Dr. Engr. Kevin Yaptenco; Vice Pres., Mr. RC De Leon; Treas., Mr. Jose Mari Valmayor; Sec., ex-Fr. Ped Lontok and Rec. Dir., Dr. Engr. Arnold Elepaño.
We are eager and accomplished tennis players in varying degrees of proficiency. Mostly in the upper echelons of the local tennis circuit. We are also available for dual meets with other clubs anywhere in the country. Either club level or partial club membership dual meets as we usually go on out of towners just to search for good competition usually during summer or when bad weather pushes us to seek covered court facilities in other locations.
