I saw on Sportscenter this morning where Trev Alberts has his top 5
(on July 5th?!). Here they are:
5. Iowa
4. Virginia Tech
3. Michigan
2. LSU
1. USC
Well let's see; thank God OU is not in there. The Big 12 myth is
hopefully done. Iowa, Michigan and USC are safe bets. LSU is a
maybe, with a new coach taking over you never know. Virginia Tech
has to beat FSU, Miami and the other ACC teams to win. That will be
tough. The same goes for LSU. Conference schedules for these two
will be difficult. Iowa and Michigan are about the best the Big 10
has to offer, unless Tressel can pull another miracle season. USC
seems to have the easiest time of it, but you have to wonder if they
feel they have anything left to prove. Are there any surprises out
there? Maybe Clemson? They have a wonderful offense, but defense is
a question. Maybe Miami? Always talented, but questions are many on
both sides of the ball. FSU? Maybe a new qb is just what they need.
Florida? Can Meyer have the same success here as he had at Utah? So
many questions. Only a few weeks until we start to get answers.
