Carlos Brown, a freshman who enrolled at Michigan in
January to be eligible for spring practice, provides the
dimension of straight speed. Carr has talked this spring
about Brown's long runs in practice and it was obvious
Saturday, when the freshman broke off a 55-yarder and
coasted to the end zone for the day's top play.

Without sophomore Antonio Bass under center following his
knee injury, Brown has filled in as an option quarterback
as well. He took a number of snaps in the shotgun Saturday,
running each time.
