Re: [Codorus Disc Golf] Re: Question for the Pro's.....

I Have a friend who when evever he would throw with a run up he would always get
the nose way up so the disc would hyzer out big time, not what he was going for.
He fixed his problem by standing still and throwing and shifting his weight from
his back foot to his front during his rotation (hockey players know what i am
talking about) which helped him keep the nose down (level) wich keeps the disc
lower to the ground and in turn increased his accuracy. If your disc is going
45+ ft in the air and stalls ( nose up situation ) even if you realeased at the
correct point its gonna land 45+ ft or more to the left of your intended
throw. Keep it low, level and long. Good luck.
ps.. Andy doesnt have a run up either.

Steve's right. When you think about it, unless you can run about 20mph,
there's more going on when you take a run up than simply adding forward
momentum.

I have a profoundly crappy short drive so I'm always looking for a few
extra feet. I almost always drive sidearm. I, too, once 'discovered' I
could add ~30' to a drive with a short run up. Problem is, it's more
likely to fail than work. Mikey Keiser cringes when I do it. :)
However, I sometimes find I can add as much by taking a few slow paced
steps (think bowling) as I can by taking a quick step/skip. Still, I'm
most consistent when standing still.

Don't stop at trying different techniques, try different discs too. I
can *sometimes* get as a good a drive by sidearming a mid-range
Optimizer which (usually) turns over into a roller as I can by
sidearming my favorite discs. The best part is I don't have to worry as
much about aiming so I can put a little more into the throw. It's an
ugly flight path though - throwing right handed, it imediately hooks
hard to the right, comes back to center as it turns over then has a mind
of it's own once it lands.
I've seen online video of a guy who turned around 360 degrees through
his run up. Don't think I'll be doing that anytime soon!

Joe<-not a 'Pro' by anyone's standards but I'll throw anything any way.
