Vernon, NY --- Track record holder NY Speed Limit got back on the
winning track with a 1:581 effort in Friday night's $5,500 Open trot
at Vernon Downs.
Angus Mac Donald, driving for trainer Jim Crawford, raced NY Speed
Limit like he was the best and the classy veteran proved that he was,
cutting splits of :283, :593, and 1:291 over a rain-soaked track and
defeating Night Street, the nearest of his six rivals in the ninth
race, by two and three-quarter lengths.
It was the first win in four outings this year for the 10-year-old
gelding, who also shows two second place finishes and a third on his
current summary line. James Crawford, Jr. and Patricia Crawford own
the career winner of $262,780, who still owns a share of the 1:551
Vernon record for altered, older trotters.
