Northfield, OH- Favored Peruvian Hanover won the $150,000 Battle of
Lake Erie at Northfield Park Saturday night with a thrilling come-
from-behind stretch drive in 1:52.1. He defeated longshot Cambest
Prince in a photo finish by one-quarter length. Driver Ron Pierce
moved the winner three-wide past the 1:23 three-quarter time to get
the win. J K Bandit finished third and Western Millennium was fourth.
Peruvian Hanover is a four-year-old horse by Life Sign. He is trained
by Noel Daley for owners Alvin Jacobson of New York and Sidney Korn
of New Jersey. The win was his third in twelve starts this year and
pushed his seasonal earnings to $225,450. He has banked $815,159 in
his career. Peruvian Hanover paid $5.80 to win.
