Napoli seal De Sanctis deal
Keeper heading back to Italy
Napoli have completed the capture of Morgan De Sanctis from Seville following a
protracted chase.
An argument over image rights had delayed the deal, but those issues have now
been resolved.
A fee of around €1.5million had been agreed earlier this week, only for De
Sanctis to refuse to give up his image rights.
Napoli
president Aurelio De Lauentiis has introduced a policy in recent years
of owning the rights to all of the players at his club and was
reluctant to buck that trend.
De Sanctis has finally agreed to
compromise and he is now set to join up with his new team-mates on
their pre-season tour of Austria.
The 32-year-old goalkeeper will
be hoping that a return to his homeland in time for the 2009/10
campaign will allow him to push for a place in Italy's 2010 World Cup
squad.
De Sanctis has seen his career stagnate in recent years, after leaving Udinese
for Seville in 2007.
However, a loan spell at Galatasaray last season saw him return to form, brining
him to the attention of Napoli.
