Russotto ecstatic as Napoli nears

Azzurrini forward Andrea Russotto is ready to join Napoli and couldn’t be more
excited about the prospect of playing for the Partenopei.

Russotto, who has spent the last two seasons at Treviso, has been compared to
the great Roberto Baggio and is one of the peninsula’s rising stars.

The 20-year-old will travel to Beijing with Italy’s Olympic squad next month
and is expected to go straight to Naples when he returns.

“It is a dream come true to be in Napoli’s sights,” Russotto told the
Corriere dello Sport.

“The Azzurri jersey, the Stadio San Paolo and the passion of the fans were
things I could only imagine until now but soon they will become a reality.

“I am in seventh heaven and am ecstatic. The negotiations have been going on
for so long and every day I have been waiting for the phone call to tell me that
the deal is done. When I got it I was literally overwhelmed.

“Napoli have great champions and have added some new ones this summer. I can
only hope to get a few games under my belt to prove that I can play at this
level,” he continued.

“I have already played with Inacio Pià and Nicolas Amodio at Treviso and I
know Fabiano Santacroce from the Azzurrini, so I guess they can help me settle
in.”
