*Napoli swoop for Contini* Wednesday 15 August, 2007
------------------------------
Napoli are set to make Parma midfielder Matteo Contini a contract offer
after agreeing a fee with the Ducali.
Azzurri President Aurelio De Laurentiis revealed after the Birra Moretti
Trophy that the Partneopei would add three more players before the start of
the new campaign.
As talks with Roma's Matteo Brighi seem to have been scuppered by unforseen
complications, it seems that their next choice will be the 27-year-old
ex-Livorno man.
"He is one of the most interesting players we have watched," boss Edy Reja
revealed. "We need a right-sided player, but it doesn't matter if he is
left-footed as many left-footed players play on the right and strikers like
it when they cut inside."
It has been suggested that Napoli may be ready to offer as much as £2m for
the Milan youth product with a four-year contract on the table.
Meanwhile, there is increasing speculation that the Vesuviani will turn to
Piacenza's Daniele Cacia to solve their striker shortage.
Cacia is regarded as one of Serie B's most promising talents after hitting
32 goals in 65 games for the Papaveri over the last two seasons.
