Napoli-Bari 1-1

Naples struggles to get a draw, managing to score
15 minutes from the end of time.

Another home draw and Naples are is now in the
play-off group. The Sky Blues manage a draw 15
minutes before the end of the game and again they
failed to make any concrete openings and in even
playing in desperation they failed to make any headway.

Naples were dangerous, but in a desperate way,
with wild long balls that had no meaning as they
tried to make use of Sosa. Bucchi and De Zerbi
were disappointing, they may have good CV's, but
the trainer should have the courage to drop them
from the team when they do not perform to the expected level.

Reja selects a good formation, 3-4-3, with De
Zerbi and Calaiò out wide and Bucchi in the
center. In the middle, he returns to the 'famous
four', with Amodio in place of Dalla Bona and
Bogliacino in the role of playmaker, just as in
the last game against Bari, whilst at the center
of the defense, returned Maldonado.

Naples starting at high speed, but Materazzi
killed everything by putting eight players in a
defensive line. It soon became clear that the
Naples pressure was not getting anywhere, Grava
and Savini were not pushing forward and the lack
of good positioning by Bona and above all by
Bogliacino, meant that the players became
squashed into a tight group of 'five' in the
critical playing zone on the field. Enthusiastic
but with little danger in goal area. De Zerbi
tried two long range shots in the 18th and the
20th minutes, but both did not bother the Bari
goalkeeper. The positioning of De Zerbi made it
easy for the defenders to anticipate the play, in
three, they managed to block the only target
point of the Sky Blues. In the 36th minute,
Bucchi missed an opportunity to give Naples the
lead and again two minutes later. Bari found the
net with the goal of the day when the young Eremo
from a counterattack found himself in the penalty
area and beat Iezzo. The advantage gave Bari
that extra bit of energy and made the Sky Blues
more nervous and incapable of overcoming Bari.

At the start of the second half, Reja tried to
provide more space for an offensive strategy from
Bogliacino, bringing on Della Bona for Savini and
changing to a 4-3-3 formation. The tactical
change did not have an immediate effect and
Trotta was brought on and Naples change to a
4-4-2 formation, with Bogliacino working on the
outside left of the centre of the pitch. Naples,
unable to affect the game and not having players
capable of turning the game to their advantage,
can only resort to long balls. Therefore, Reja
now brings on Sosa, probably the only one capable
making the team do anything in the last quarter
of the pitch. In the 62nd minute, Paolo
Cannavaro saves on the line from Vignaroli who
was in a one to one situation with Iezzo. In
75th minute, Grava brings the Bari goalkeeper
into action with a fine shot, one minute later
Bogliacino scores to draw the game after taking
advantage of a ball from Calaiò. At this point
Grava was sent of after getting a second yellow
card; the decision does not demoralize the Sky
Blues who continue to push Bari. In the 78th
minute, Amodio makes an enormous mistake putting
his shot high into the stands, then Della Bona
fails to hold a ball giving the Bari defenders time to recover their positions.
