I have to agree with Joe and Conor. There used to be a banner that said
"we hate everyone" behind the goals because with the exception of Genoa
fans and some of the sicilian clubs Napoli are disliked by all. It even
goes beyond football and stems from age old political rivalries between
Naples and the rest of Italy, let's just say that the city and it's people
have a very bad wrap. You still see Italian TV clamouring to air stories
about poverty, crime and scandal in Naples ahead of Milan or Rome because
that is what other Italians like to think of Neapolitans, in spite of how
massive a contribution Naples makes and has made to Italian culture. Other
ultras will often just chant "we are not neapolitans" when Napoli play
them because in their minds their is nothing worse than being from Naples.

Read "A season with Verona" by Tim Parks to get a sense of the racism of
the Verona brigate (their supporter group). It's a great read but I will
now forever hate Hellas Verona. For instance, when Napoli played at the
Bentegodi, the Hellas Verona team put surgical masks on all the seats in
the stands. The reason for the masks is so the Veronese could protect
themselves against the smell of the Napoli squad. BASTARDI!!!!
I want to see them relegated again. This time to Serie C! And just to rub
it in their faces, I'm pulling for Chievo Verona to qualify for EUFA.
Hellas fans think of Chievo as an ugly step-sister. I didn't think I could
hate a societa more than Juventus but Hellas Verona are certainly a close
second.

The thing about Napoli in the world of Italian football is that with the
exception of Genoa, everyone is their rival!!! There is no welcoming mat
for Napoli and they are hated throughout the country. The only exception
is of course the good folk of the Genoa ultras, with whom the gellemati
has lasted for many years.
Main foes would be the obvious candidates, the 2 Rome clubs, Inter, Milan,
Juve and Verona.
Everyone in the country hates Juventus, and I think the hatred for them
often goes up another notch when they visit the San Paolo.
Personally I hate Hellas Verona with a passion, and their continous
efforts in their racist curva to show disdain for the good folk of Naples.
The Stadio Bentegodi has always been an unwelcoming visiting place for the
travelling partenopei, and always will be. Eternal foes.......Enjoying
their lowly position at the moment. :)
Good luck,
Conor.

Hi!
My name is András Szolnoki, and I am trying to
learn more about italian football. I hope you
have the time to answer one question for me.
I want to know which teams are Napoli's rivals.
Who would you consider to be their fierce rivals?
The teams you dislike the most?
thank you in advance
András
