Napoli stopped at Cesena 1-1
Calaị's goal (then expulsion) is answered by Papa Waigo. Strikes off the
crossbar by Sosa and Domizzi. Useless the territorial domain by the Azzurri.
Napoli fails to return standing alone in first place in the serie B campaign,
stopping themselves on a 1-1 tie at Cesena in the postponed match for the 15th
week.
A bitter taste in the mouth for the partenopei who overall could have brought
home three big points, and also because it was against an adversary in good
form. But also thinking about the numerous errors in aim by Cesena in the first
half, one is able to say that the result, all summized, was what it should be.
The game was rich with opportunities primarily in the first 45 minutes. The two
teams started the game openly, and chances are squandered. After Amodio engaged
Turci from outside the area, Lazzari missed the net right in front of Iezzo at
the 15th minute. And from a missed goal at one end, a goal occurred at the
other. At the 19th minute a long cross by Trotta from the right, and the
talented Calaị coordinating the ball with his head then beat Turci. Cesena does
not lose its collective head, and two minutes later tie the game. Papa Waigo
propelled himself from the line of the penalty area, made his way in front of
Iezzo and with a right foot surprised him. It seemed to be the prelude to a game
rich with goals. Instead it was the prelude to a game of missed goals. Like the
32nd minute when Calaị, helped by Pià, fired at point-blank range outside and
right. And like at the 35th minute when Cesena replied with Papa Waigo stopped
by a miracle save by Iezzo. At the 41st minute !
Pellè
had a great opportunity, but with the right squandered an assist by De Feudis.
In the second half the two teams have inevitably settled down. Here one sees
that Napoli kept better control of the game preparing with ease a possible
resolution to the game. At the 12th minute it was, for example, Dalla Bona to
force Turci to make a nice dive. Cesena did not create anymore dangerous
opportunities, and the campani at the end grazed the goal first by Sosa and then
by Domizzi. Both opportunities hit the crossbar saving Cesena and the over-all
lead for Juventus and Bologna. The expulsion of Calaị for protesting with 5
minutes to go in the match is the only other sour note other than the two points
left behind.
