Napoli sign Bucchi

After strengthening their defence with Paolo Cannavaro and Maurizio Domizzi
Napoli started thinking of their attack. The signing of Modena striker Christian
Bucchi is another proof of the ambitions of the club. Bucchi, who has netted 29
goals in Serie B last season, was followed by various Serie A clubs as well but
decided to marry this important project. Napoli paid Modena 3.5m euros.

Maradona still popular in Naples

Diego Armando Maratona was invited to take part in a charity game just outside
Naples and, as ever, was overwhelmed by the love of his previous fans. Maradona,
who played in a number 10 Argentina shirt, made two goals and scored from the
penalty spot. While leaving he had time to reply to a few questions. “Juventus
in Serie B? I can’t see that happening, it would be weird but I knew a long time
ago something was wrong in Italian football. I still love Napoli, it’s part of
my life, I’ve spent some of the best years of my life over here. World Cup
favourite? I would love to say my Argentina but I think Brazil are too strong
even if it won’t be easy for them.”

Paolo Cannavaro joins Napoli

Paolo Cannavaro, the younger brother of Italy captain Fabio, has finally
fulfilled his dream to join his home club. “I’m happy – said the ex Parma
defender – to be at Napoli and the five years contracts I’ve just signed is a
proof of it. It was my dream to join this club and I’m sure together we can head
back where we belong, in the top flight of Italian football.”
