Napoli strengthen his defence

02.06.2006, 13:47

Napoli will be playing Serie B next season but their ultimate ambition is
getting back where they feel to belong, Serie A. Yesterday the club announced
the signing of defender Maurizio Domizzi who played at Ascoli during last
season. He has also scored five goals in his 34 appearances. The other defender
who is expected to join the club from southern Italy is Paolo Cannavaro as his
agent confirmed: “The deal should go through next week, Paolo is extremely keen
on Napoli. It’s his club and his city and he turned down other options to fulfil
his dream.”

Riganò, another target for Napoli

05.06.2006, 09:19

Napoli are trying to assemble a team good enough to go straight up to Serie A.
The last target is Christian Riganò. “My future is in the hands of Fiorentina.
Last season I’ve been loaned out to Empoli and I ahd a very good season, I’ve
enjoyed my time there. It’s not the first time my name has been linked with
Napoli but nothing has happened. It’s always a pleasure to know such a big club
is thinking of signing you but so far I’ve not received any offer.”

Brienza not sure about Napoli

31.05.2006, 15:45

Following a season where he didn’t play as much as expected, Palermo forward
Franco Brienza was considering a move to Napoli. Coming from the very same city
he had always said it would have been an honour to wear that shirt. Negotiations
had started but then Palermo decided to change their manager and Francesco
Guidolin is back on the bench of the Sicilian team. “Now that Guidolin is back I
don’t know if Franco will be left free to go – said his agent – as the manager
rates him very highly. It will depend on the two clubs at this point, if they
can find an agreement, but it will be out of our hands.”
