Serie B within sight
Napoli are almost certain of promotion after a comfortable 2-0 win over Chieti
in front of over 20,000 fans at the Stadio San Paolo.
The Azzurri remain the only side in Serie C1B unbeaten at home and are fast
closing in on a place in Serie B next season. Vesuviani goalkeeper Gennaro Iezzo
was called upon to make two superb saves - one in the opening minutes and one in
the closing stages - but Edy Reja's men dominated against the bottom club and
goals from Argentine Roberto Sosa and Uruguayan Mariano Bogliacino put the
points beyond doubt.
Coach Edy Reja knows that his job depends on not just ensuring promotion but
also the title and despite voicing his contentment with the performance he
warned against complacency. "We need to stay focused,” he said. “We can't go
into games thinking we're champions. After Iezzo's great early save we played
well, it was a good performance." Second-placed Frosinone play Torres on Monday
night but for now trail the Azzurri by 10 points.
