Napoli defeat Reggina
NAPOLI-Reggina 1-0
Third Division side Napoli have continued their progress in the Coppa Italia by
defeating Serie A outfit Reggina. The Azzurri collected a 1-0 win at the San
Paolo thanks to a 73rd minute goal from Capparella, who robbed Gaetano De Rosa
of the ball before slotting past Ivan Pelizzoli with the aid of the post.
Reggina went close to equalising soon after but it was the home side who almost
doubled their lead with Sosa, Pia and Fontana late on. Napoli will now face
Piacenza in the next round, as the game finished 1-0 even if both teams had a
man sent-off following the dismissals of Giubilato and Castiglia. "I’m happy
with how we expressed ourselves," said Napoli boss Edy Reja. "We are getting
better all of the time and we will be ready for when the season kicks off."
