A brief summary of the Napoli situation.   Message List

Hello all,

CNI president Elio has asked that I give a brief summary of all of the
various and confusing information in the Italian media about Napoli.

The club is currently between Serie B and Serie C. Napoli has presented
it's case for admission into Serie B to the TAR, which is basically the
Rome based court that has in recent years decided the fate of several
Italian clubs. They are appealing for entry at the expense of several
clubs who Napoli believe it can establish are not in a financial situation
that merits entry into Serie B. The TAR has initially turned back Napoli's
case along with the cases of several other clubs trying to get into Serie
B through the courts. There is still time for the decision to change
however, and Napoli's lawyers are working continously at securing the club
a spot in Serie B before the 9th of August when a final verdict will (this
is Italian law so i'd rather say "should") be delivered.

Coach Edy Reja is in the meantime working with the younger players on
Napoli's books amidst all of the insecurity about where Napoli will be
playing next season. The only sure thing is that they have drawn Pescara
in the first round of the new FA cup style Coppa Italia. It seems that in
any case two young Uruguayan players are set to arrive at the club They
are Nicolas Amodio and Mariano Bogliacino, they are both prommissing
midfielders, who have had a taste of Italian football at Sambenedettese
last season.

That's the situation as it stands, so let's all hope for a miracle in a
few days time that will see Napoli in Serie B again !

David
