MARTINAFRANCA-NAPOLI 1-1

In Martina Franca, Napoli incapable of getting past a draw, the third since
Reja's arrival. A point gained when compared to the first half performance, but
two points lost if we look at what happened in the second half. Regrettably, had
Napoli won, it would have increased its chances of narrowing the gap on second
placed Avellino.
Edy Reja, without injuried Capparella, Sosa, Fontana and Terzi, does not change
the team tactics,
and confirms the 4-3-2-1 that played last Sunday, the only change being the use
of Gatti to replace the suspended Corrent.
Good start by Pià, between the 11th and 17th minute, on threee occasions, he
tries to score without success. The brazilian first left foot volley goes out,
then a header misses the target and then with a shot from outside the penalty
box.
Calaio' is not given enough of the ball and he is rarely able to free himself
from the defenders.
Martina, on the other hand, starts to believe in itself. On the 31’, a header by
Manca just misses the cross bar. The goal comes 2 minutes later from Lisuzzo,
able to score after an assist from a freekick by Mitri.
Scarlato and team mates find it hard to react, and play through the middle,
exhasperating Reja who wants them to play down the corridors. The manager is
forced to replace Abate, following a musclar problem, with Mora.
In the second half, Napoli starts to go forward immediately. On the 1’, Mora
misses the right moment to shoot and when he finally does, Narciso is ready to
palm the ball away for a corner.
Six minutes later, Consonni plays a freekick, Cardascio and Scarlato both miss
the ball, but Calaiò is unable to capitalize on the chance.
Mitri is yellow carded twice in 60 seconds and is expelled by referee Herberg.
With the extra man, Napoli intensifies its push for a goal. It arrives with
Calaiò, who beats Narciso after a beautiful 1-2 with Pià.
Towards the back end of the match, the games comes alive. There is enough time
and know how to win the match, but in the last 15 or so minutes left, Reja's
team is incapble of capitalizing on 2 chances by Pià (header blocked by Narciso)
and Calaiò (header misses its target).
