REJA, NICE WORK FIRST GAME

From the 3-5-2 of Giampiero Ventura we switched to the 4-3-3 of Edi Reja. In his
debut, the new Gorizian technician shuffled the cards a little drawing up a
defense with Terzi, Scarlato, Ignoffo and Bonomi, and the midfield with
Montervino, Fontana and Corrent. The offensive trio was formed by Abate, Calaiò
and Guatieri. The azzurri looked to attack right away their opponents in the
first half of the contest, and Cittadella defended themselves counting on the
strength of their lineup. In the first half hour of play the teams studied each
other without running any risks. At the 36th minute Napoli took the lead: a
cross from the left by Abate and a winning header by Francesco Montervino. After
just 4 minutes of play Napoli doubles the score: A penalty by Fontana from the
top right of the opponent's penalty area and an error by Cittadella defender,
Musso, who heads the ball into his own net. In the second half Napoli suffered
the return of Cittadella. Sgrigna kept Gianello bus!
y in t
wo circumstances: The extreme azzurro goalkeeper made two spectacular saves and
knew how to give confidence to the troops. Calaiò appeared spent. The azzurri
attacker was substituted at the 40th minute of the second half by Sosa who
scored Napoli's third goal: Cross from the right by Montervino and a redirection
via the head of "Il Pampa" that beat the goalkeeper, Perezzon. At the 43rd
minute Montervino, perhaps too emotional from his fantastic performance,
surrendered an own-goal for Cittadella with a misdirected header into the Napoli
net. It was a most important road victory that has been missing for more than
100 days; the last was against Lanciano, the next opponent for Napoli
