An error by Calaió and Napoli are blocked.

The game against Fermana confirmed the introduction of the attacker Emanuele
Calaió to the sky blue shirt of Napoli. Thirty-five thousand pairs of eyes
focused on him and the new team of Manino / De Laurentiis.

In the first half the Sky Blues tried to go into the lead using the speed of
Calaió and Pia and in the nineth minute Ventura's boys went into the lead with a
goal from Gautieri - a free kick by Fontana, a header by Calaió and the goal by
the centre forward. After the goal, which probably came too early, Napoli did
not push positively forward. In the 31st minute the equaliser came from Fermana
- a cross from the left wing by Di Bari into the centre and a goal from Pirro
who beat Terzi to the ball. In the 39th minute Napoli had the opportunity to go
into the lead - the goalkeeper, Chiodini, anticipated the ball meant for Pia,
the ball landed at the feet of Consonni and with an open goal at his mercy he
managed to miss the goal completely hitting instead the defender Controneo.

In the second half Napoli tried to score the second goal to no avail. Calaió
tried to score with a header in the 9th and the 19th minute but the goalkeeper,
Chiodini, was always in the correct position. Napoli seemed set to concede a
second goal to Pirro but Gianello was able to stop his joy at scoring his second
goal. In the 25th minute Napoli could have won the game - a corner from Abate,
a header from Gautieri and the hand of Vitali [who was booked] stopped a certain
goal. A penalty was awarded and Calaió proceeded to waste the opportunity by
placing the ball to the goalkeepers left. The Sky Blues appeared unconvincing
from a game plan point of view and even from an effort point of view, Ventura
has some responsibility for this. The draw with Fermana served little to change
the position in the league and only served to demoralise everybody. We know
little about the team but the lack of grit and their performance today can never
be justified.
