Lanciano-Naples 1-2
Naples showed up to the first appointment on the road followed by a Thousand
fans. On the stands there was also the president De Laurentiis. Ventura
launches on the first minute the ex Bolognese Terzi and Abate in place of Savino
and Toledo not at the top of their conditions. The line up 3-5-2 is Confirmed,
Pozzi & Varricchio, on the forward line. Lanciano begins by quickly sprinting
forward, which quickly points out the difference of preparation between the two
adversaries.
However, it is Naples to have the first true scoring opportunity on the sixth
with Varricchio who wastes a good chance. It’s a good moment for Naples, which
forces the keeper Cano first with Pozzi at the 8 minute mark, & then with
Scarlato on the 9, in both cases with a header.
On the 19 Naples was shocked once again, as they had also experienced with
Cittadella, with a great conclusion with a first touch from the distance by
Ticli and the ball found its way in, straight in the upper corner, which left
the keeper Belardi impotent. The Red-striped jerseys are ahead one nil, in the
presence of their exulting supporters.
Naples is playing a bit slowly, & doesn't seem to succeed in producing concrete
actions with the exception of
some sterile crosses from the right flank, initiated by the sparkling Abate,
while on the left Mora is often forced to stand next to the 3 other defenders
and cannot seem to push forward. In any case the insufficiency of the Home
defense gives Naples the opportunity to equalize on the 40th with Pozzi who
takes advantage of a bouncing ball in the area and succeeds in touching the
ball past the keeper Cano with a splendid volley.
In the second half, Naples begins without attaching too much looking for the
ball possession and closing the spaces to prevent other unpleasant surprises,
due to the fatigue. On the 15th Mora finally pushes himself forward and from the
outside of the pk area, crossed the ball, and after it bounced on the ground,
Abate headed it & it’s the Neapolitan advantage.
During the next 10 minutes, not much happened; & then on the 28th Gatti, who was
already booked, committed a naïve foul to recuperate the ball, & is sent off for
double booking.
However Naples does not barricade their defense, thus the blues try to play the
ball every opportunity they have with more precision, which was missed perhaps
in their home debut, & the defense played a few more meters ahead of the pk
area, hence filling the void that separated them from the center of the field.
In the last minutes however Lanciano often had some good chances and Belardi had
to overcome at least twice to impede the final forcing by the home team . The
game comes to an end with a true battle during the five minutes of injury time,
the blue players without much strength left, they lined up their last tour de
force, in front of Belardi and they succeed in winning their first victory of
the newly built Naples.
A victory with much suffering, & many thanks above all to the two jewels Pozzi
and Abate for obtaining it. During this match Napoli has shown to have character
and is getting used to the mentality it needs of humbleness and humility, both
required for Serie C, probably the healthiest way to project themselves forward
toward their higher goals.
