Naldi and Luciano Moggi had an on-air altercation last night and it would appear
that the strain of the troubled times we are living through is taking its toll
on the President. Moggi was holding forth on the possible bankruptcy, how he
advised we take De Canio rather than Agostinelli and Naldi's interjection was
that these things should be said face to face, not on television. So much for
the press silence!
As mentioned yesterday, Perinetti has left the club, now that we are
mathematically safe. Naldi has thanked him for his work and wished him all the
best for the future. Now all we have to concentrate on is the impending
bankruptcy...............
--------------
Giorgio Perinetti looks as if he may end his association with Napoli. He hasn't
actually said that he is leaving but the 18 month old relationship looks as if
it is reaching its final days.Has he been a success or a failure? Given the
constraints he has worked under I would tend towards the former, in as much that
we are still in B. In the wider context of Napoli's history, he has been a
failure as we aren't back in A and he has had a tendency to sign older players
rather than younger, more promising players. Perhaps he thought he was making
the best decisions given the style of football in Serie B but I have my doubts.
It's up to you to decide how you feel about his transfer activities.
Time is running out for Naldi. He has 15 days in which to raise 18 million euros
for the recapitalisation and this has been complicated by the withdrawal of
Setten, one of the potential investors. Failure to meet this deadline will
result in the intervention of a tribunal. Covisoc, the body which audits clubs
in Italy, have identified a 54m euro shortfall in the accounts. 22m is already
known about but 32m has been added to the total, this includes the players'
wages and the subscription for next year's campaign. Worrying times and only
Naldi can save the club from financial ruin and I'm not sure if it will be
possible.
Diego Maradona will fly to Brazil next week, accompanied by medical staff. He
will be discharged from the psychiatric clinic in Buenos Aires and continue his
battle with cocaine at an undisclosed location.
Finally, farewell to Salvatore Buonandi. He worked with our youth team and died
before Saturday's game with Bari. He took unwell before the match at the San
Paolo and died on the way to hospital. Our sympathy and respect go to his
family.
