NAPOLI WINS AT PESCARA AND CATCHES VICENZA
Rich with emotion the game between Pescara and Napoli played at the Adriatico.
The game finished with a 2-1 victory to Napoli, the scorers for Napoli Zanini
and Tosto. In the 6' minute and early chance as Calaio shot only for Manitta to
save. In the 15' a freee kick from Palladino who couldn't find Dicara at the
back post. 5 minutes later a tentatitve3 shot from Colonello that didn't really
worry the Napoli defence. In the 22' a chance for Napoli : a freee kick from
Zanini from 30 metres, Tosto got a head to the ball but saved by Santarelli. In
the 24' a shot from the left from Palladino finished just wide to Manitta's
right. In the 33' Napoli took the lead. A cross from Vidigal, met by Zanini who
beat Santarelli. In the 5' minute of the second half a free kick for Napoli : a
touch from Zanini for Zamboni who wide of Santarelli's goal.. In the 10' minute
a golden chance for Pescara : a shot from Giampaolo finished wide to the right
of Manitta. In the 20' Napoli scores agai!
n with
Tosto. A header from the Napoli defender that finishes in the net after just
missing the crossbar. In the 33' Pescara cut the lead to one with Russo who
beats Manitta on his left. In the final minutes Pescara are dangerous and create
chances but the match finishes 2-1 to Napoli.
Napoli returns to the winners circle after 4 consecutive draws and does it at
Pescara where it has not won since 1988 when they won with a goal from Bruno
Giordano. This time it was Nicola Zanini who showed evidence of the technical
quality of a team building for success. A splendid first goal from the Venetian
midfielder after a wonderful one-two between Bernini and Vidigal.. Napoli showed
great character and stamped their authority on the game with a second goal from
Vittorio Tosto. Pescara, who had up until that point shown very little other
than a shot from Gimpaolo that hit the post, found a goal from Daniele Russo.
In the final minutes Pescara came close to finding the equalizer and had claims
for a free kick on the edge of the area turned away by the referee after a clash
between Zamboni and Calaio; now for Napoli begins another tough week, failure
and bankruptcy are near. The president will take the accounts to the tribunal in
the coming days.
