Subject: Open Water Swim Practice Parking

For those of you who are coming tomorrow I want to remind you to park legally as last week we had 4 or so cars get tickets for parking illegally.

The legal parking spots are the 3 or 4 between the signs on Bonaparte Rd.

We can park up the steep driveway on the right just past the above parking spots above and we can park at the Pratt's (the one with the Hot tub and shower0 which is located one East Forest Trail.

Another idea that the cop offered is to park at Herald Harbor Community Center which is just before Bonaparte Rd on the left. If anyone wants to park there I will do a pick at 6:50am and drive you down to the swim.

Subject: Kick Off Planning Meeting for the Centenial Lake 1 Mile Swim

There will be a kick off meeting where I will be giving a overview of the event with timeline. I will be looking for volunteers to help run this event. The proceeds from it will be split to charity and swim gear for our team. It will take 20 to 40 people to help out (many jobs still leave you time to swim the event too).

The meeting will be on June 9th at 7:30pm to 8:30pm. We will meet at Howard County YMCA in the room near the entrance to the boys locker room (back stair ways).

I am hoping many of you can make it to this kick-off.

Subject: Centennial One Mile Swim - Update 6/20

This open water swim is being hosted by our team on August 7^th at Centennial Lake.

Registration is at https://www.clubassistant.com/club/meet_information.cfm?c=1749&smid=3189 and currently 31 swimmers are signed up (limited to 200 swimmers).

We held a kick off/volunteer meeting on June 9^th where we went over the time line and race course. Also I talked about the key jobs I need filled for this event. A little summary on the race is that we will start and finish from the beach area near the amphitheater. The race will not be a “wave” start but will be in “time trial” format. That is 2 swimmers will leave every 3-5 seconds (depends on the numbers of registered swimmers).

Now to ask for YOUR help to run this race! Below are the key volunteer rolls I need to have filled to run this race (**mean you can still do the swim and this job):

· Registration** – (4 to 6 people) These will be the people at the check-in table and/or doing the body marking. I am also looking for someone to head this up.

· Kayaks/Escorts – (5+ people) We will need kayakers in the water for this race. They will be on the water from about 8am until 11am.

· Officials – (2+ people) I am looking for 2 USA Swimming certified officials to be the race Referrer and a Starter

· Setup** – (4+ people) at about 6am we will start setting up for the race (registration tables, start/finish coral, timing, pa). I am also looking for someone to head this up. We will come up with a plan ahead of time of what to setup up and where.

· Race Course** – (3 people) looking for experience open water swimmers that want to help setup the course the day before and might swim parts of it to check on the water conditions.

· Refreshment** – (3 people) looking for people to buy (I will reimburse you) the post-race food and refreshments and set them up.

· Apparel** - (1-2 people) looking for someone to help with the ordering of t-shirts and swim caps.

We have some updated hours for our Catonsville Ymca practices.

Mondays (at Catonsville Y) we will start at 8:30pm and run until 9:45pm.
Wednesday (at Catonsville Y) we have 2 lanes from 8:30-9pm and 5 lanes from 9-9:45pm

Tuesday and Thurs (at Howard County Y) we start at 8:30 and run until 9:45pm (same as before).

On Sunday July 10th, Bruce Breon and Brian Hinz represented CMYM at the Short
Course Meters meet at the Talbot County YMCA.  In the 35-39 Men's age group,
Brian Hinz broke Coach Ray's 50 Breaststroke record of 43.34 set at the November
2002 Lox and Bagels meet at the Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia
with a 39.85.  Brian also broke Coach Ray's 50 Butterfly record of 31.96 set at
the same meet with a 31.94.
      In the 50-54 Men's age group, Bruce Breon set new team records in the 200
Freestyle (3:15.12), the 100 Backstroke (1:47.42), and the 100 Butterfly
(1:39.36) all in the space of about 15 minutes.
