March 21
The Albatross Open

The Mongomery Ancient Mariners will be holding their Albatross
Open meet (albatross...from the "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" get
it?) at the Montgomery Aquatic Center in North Bethesda on Saturday
the 21st. This meet is also Short Course Meters, so you have more
opportunities to get on that team record board. Here is the link for
the meet information page.  Entries must be in the hands of the meet
director by March 14th.

Swim Series Finale

The Swim Series Finale meet will be held at Big Vanilla in
Pasadena. This pool is also Short Course Meters, so please take

Coach Mike and Coach Ray,

I have some unfortunate news. I tore my left achilles tendon this past Sunday and I will have to undergo surgery to repair it. I will be in a "boot" for 6-8 weeks after that, and then additional 4-8 weeks of rehab after the boot comes off. I will obviously not be able to participate in the last swim meet or any other meets or practices for a while. I am extremely bummed about this but I will be back once I am recovered. I just wanted to give you a heads up so you don't think I just disappeared without a trace.

Hi Everybody,

      We just finished up some great events for January.  First, we
had 24 people participate in the USMS One Hour Postal Swim.   More
than 2000 fellow Masters swimmers from around the world will be
sending their results to the Ohana Swim Team in Washington state.  We
will find out the final results sometime in March.
      This past weekend, we had ten of our CMYM crew go down to
Annapolis for the Swim Series meet.  Details will follow upon the
release of the results.  In the meantime, here is what is coming up.


February 7
Swim Series Meet #5

      Swim Series Meet #5 will be held at the Woods Community Center
in Severna Park.  Coach Ray will be out of town for this meet, so we
could use a relay coordinator.  Please see Coach Mike if you are
interested.  Here is the link for the meet.

     Also, February 7th is the due date for entries in the two
following invitational meets.


February 15
The Winter Freeze Masters Meet

       Have you looked at the team records?  Some of those records are
very fast.  Are you looking for some bragging rights, but think that
getting an individual team record might be out of reach?  There is an
alternative!  Most of our competitions are held in 25 yard pools,
also called Short Course Yards or SCY for short.  But USMS also holds
competitions in 25 meter pools (called Short Course Meters or SCM)
and 50 meter pools (called Long Course Meters or LCM and nick
named "Olympic size").  Team records in those courses are still
sparse by comparison, so you can get your team mates to chase you!
      The Phoenixville Area YMCA in Pennsylvania will be hosting a SCM
meet on February 15th.  Coach Ray is planning on going.  If you are
interested, see him.  Here is the link for the meet.

February 21-22
The Maryland Masters Winter Meet

       The UMBC Winter meet is an opportunity to swim your favorite
events in a more championship atmosphere.  Also, the 1000 and the

you can take advantage of this fact in many age groups by entering
these races at this meet!  Coach Ray is planning to be there for at
least one day, and probably both.  Here is the link for the entry

Please show up 15 minutes before your assigned swim time. I want to start
promptly.

Also we will be using the side door to the pool and not the front door of the
main y facility. The 7pm groups needs to be in the facility and ready to swim at
7pm. I will not hold the start time.

I have a comment from that some people may not like there video on youtube. If
