Today the weather was wonderful. The air tempature was in the mid 50's and the water teamp was 63F. We had 14 swimmers show up and we hit the water at 7:01am. Many of the swimmers had never done this swim but they walk off the beach and just started the 1/2 mile swim to the boat house.
The swimmers were Coach Mike, Alistair, Rick, Max, Kelly, Bob, Philip, Dave, John M., Jamie, Karen, Carol, Marco and Choonghor.
We all swam out to the boat dock and regrouped (.5 mile). Kelly and Max (our host) decided to do their new 3.31 Mile swim route. Dave, Bob and Philip also swam around the island on the 2.2 Mile track. The rest of the group swam back to the beach, while Coach Mike and Alistair swam out to the next bouy and back (to play clean up).
On the return Rick had problem breathing (maybe due to the pollen) and was assisted by Carol and then Coach Mike to the nearest boat dock. Where the owners helped us out of the water and provided us with towels and a ride back to the beach. Rick was heading to the doctors when last Coach Mike saw him. This is a good example of why I say to stay together in a group and check your neighbor if they stop and when notice (nice job Carol). Or as in Betsy Coe's case just yell snake and see if she can run on top of the water ;-).
See ya all next Monday!!!
Coach Mike
