1k - 3k - 5k straight courses parallel to the Ocean City Beach.

Race Safety:
The US Coast Guard, the Ocean City Beach Patrol, the Ocean City Police, and=
Ocean City EMT Departments have been notified and will be available. The C=
oast Guard and the Beach Patrol will monitor the racecourse along with Sunfe=
st Swimming parent volunteers to ensure swimmers' safety while participating=
in the race. Timing will be provided by Super Race Systems, Championchip Ti=
ming.
Awards:
Medals will be given to the top three age group winners of each gender.

$40.00 Pre-registration (RECEIVED No Later than Sept 13, 2003)
$50.00 Sept. 14-18, 2003 (No entries will be accepted after Sept. 19, 2003)=
(Entry fees are non-refundable including the event of inclement weather or =
water conditions.) Fee includes T-shirt and Swim Cap.
Rules:
All applicable USA and USMS Open Water rules shall govern this competition.=
Maryland Swimming rules shall also apply. Personal escorts will not be per=
mitted in the racecourse. The race organizers primary concern will be for =
the safety of the participants and reserve the right to disqualify individua=
ls or cancel the event if conditions warrant.
Eligibility :
The race is open to all currently registered USMS athletes ages 19 and over=
. Entrants must show proof of eligibility with entry. Entrants in the 3K and=
5K events must provide an entry time for a 1650. A 500 time is required for=
the 1K. Age as of September 20, 2003 will determine age group. Limit to the=
first 750 swimmers.
Race Day Schedule:
Check In:
Begins at 9:30 AM, but not later than one half hour prior to the start of t=
he event. Check in takes place on the beach, near the pier. Look for the mee=
t compound.

If the current is running South to North:
1K 11:30 AM Starts at Somerset Street. The race ends 20 minutes after first=
place finisher.
3K 12:30 AM Starts at Somerset Street. The race ends 30 minutes after first=
place finisher.
5K 12:45 AM Starts at Somerset Street. The race ends one hour after first p=
lace finisher.
If the current is running North to South:
1K 11:30 AM Starts at 3rd Street. The race ends 20 minutes after first plac=
e finisher.
3K 12:45 AM Starts at Quality Inn. The race ends 30 minutes after first pla=
ce finisher.
5K 12:30 AM Starts at Dunne's Manor. The race ends one hour after first pla=
ce finisher.
Directions:
Take Rt. 50 into Ocean City. As soon as you go over the bridge, take your f=
irst right. Go 2-3 blocks to Somerset St. Make a left on Somerset St. Go to =
the end of Somerset St. to the beach. Look for the flags and banners on the =
beach. See last page for parking information.

MOTEL/CAMPING/BUS INFORMATION FOR SUNFEST WEEKEND
****FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO WILL BE COMING JUST FOR THE DAY****
AS YOU HEAD EASTBOUND ON ROUTE 50, JUST PRIOR TO CROSSING THE BRIDGE INTO=
OC, THERE IS A TRANSIT PARKING LOT ON THE RIGHT WHERE PARKING IS FREE. YOU =
CAN CATCH THE TRANSIT BUS FOR $2.00 (under 60 years of age) FOR THE DAY. Th=
ese buses run frequently to and from the Inlet, which is where our festiviti=
es will be occurring. You are given transfer passes on the bus, which will e=
nable you to ride all day on as many buses as needed.
As a result of many requests we have made arrangements with an OC bathhouse=
, two blocks from the pier, for a SHOWER AFTER YOU SWIM, at a discounted pri=
ce of $3.00 (regularly $4.50). We will sell tickets for this on the day of t=
he meet. We hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity to freshen=
up after you swim.

Sunfest weekend is a huge one for the hotels and motels and finding a place=
to stay can be a frustrating experience. We have done some of the footwork =
for you and gotten lodging information for hotels/B & B's in the Inlet area =
(from inlet to 33rd street). Call each hotel at the number listed beside it=
for additional information/rates. Keep in mind most places have a two or t=
hree night minimum stay for Sunfest.

A total of 20 rooms have been blocked for us at the Seabonay Motel (28th & =
Oceanfront). Poolside doubles are at a rate of $70 + 9% tax per room per ni=
ght and oceanfront rooms are at a rate of $90 + 9% tax per room per night. =
There is a 3 night minimum stay. This block of rooms will be CANCELLED AS O=

n Water Swim Championship to get these rates.
You can also make your reservations by calling OC Accommodations at 800-638=
-2106 for assistance in finding a place to stay. They do not know rates or=
who has available rooms, but they can refer you to specific hotels.
Also, the Hotel/Motel Association of Ocean City at 410-289-6733, can assist=
you in finding accommodations at the beach.

We will once again be having a catered BBQ/Picnic on the beach for all part=
icipants and their guests. The wonderful food has received great reviews by=
our participants of the past swim championships. We are offering such good=
ies as fried/BBQ chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, cole slaw, maca=
roni and cheese, potato salad, fruit tray, fruit punch, iced tea, and assort=
ed desserts that must be seen to be believed! Cost is $12 per person when p=
aid reservation is sent in with your registration. A limited number of BBQ=
meals will be sold on the beach at a cost of $15 per person.
