Here is a recap of this mornings open water practice. (NOTE: 6 days to the Columbia Tri and 27 days to the Bay Swim/Eagleman)
When we left from Columbia/Ellicott City area this morning it was pouring but when we got to the Severn River it was not raining at all.
We had Madi, Betsy (aka the screamer), Rick, Coach Mike from the CMYM team and Max, Eric and Kelly. The water temperature was about 63 degrees and the sky was gray (made the spotting hard).
It was high tide when we got down to the waters edge and Betsy and Kelly were first in the water. But Betsy promptly left the water screaming after she noticed one of the sticks in the water lifting its head up (just a friendly snake). She then reentered the water like a champ and started swimming for the boat dock on the pier. Everyone else followed promptly after the ladies (except the snake who went back to bed).
Rick, Madi & Coach Mike swam the 2.2 Mile course ( http://openwater.cmym.us ) and the others did about a 2.8 Mile version. We all had a great time and hope to see more of you next week.
