A friend of mine from a N. VA Masters team and I are planning a couple
open water workouts in preparation for the Bay Swim and I thought I'd
put out a general invitation to those who might wish to join us.
Please contact me directly (
ericconway@...) and I'll send
you the address information in a private email. Here's the main details:
Date(s): Monday May 10th, Monday May 17th
Time: 7:00 am
Location: Crownsville MD (I'll forward address and directions if you
reply to me)
The purpose of the workout is to get some practice in long, open water
swims, and test out new wetsuits. It will be very informal. You can
participate in all or part of our workout.
The location is a private property (my friend's uncle has graciously
offered us use of his waterfront property) right on the Severn River.
There's plenty of open space for swimming so we should be able to get
in a number of long swims.
Please plan to arrive prepared - we won't have access to the house so
come in your swimming attire. Bring a bright colored swim cap.
Wetsuit is probably a good idea for now, I don't know the water
temperature. Most of us have to get to work afterwards so we don't
want to waste time waiting for people to change, etc.
Please note that this is not a YMCA or USMS sponsored event, it's just
a couple guys silly enough to swim in a cold river in May. You're
welcome to join us!
I'll be at practice tonight if you have any questions.
