Hi all

I was hoping not to have to repeat myself this year, but I guess I set my
hopes too high. So, here is this year's version of get your act together
and stop annoying those who are ready to play.

To be selected to play for the entire night you must be in the water, on
the wall, and ready to go when we pick teams. No excuses will be accepted
because, really, there aren't any good ones. Once selected, swim off the
wall and get out of the way so the next selections can be completed. If
you are not ready at start time then you may join in at halftime. Sitting
or standing on deck is a sign that you are not ready. Swimming a warm-up
off to the side, although close, is a sign that you are not ready. Asking
if you have time to go change is most definitely a sign that you are not
ready.

We have already adjusted the time to allow for parking issues and people
are abusing that by coming even later. Get your stuff organized so that we
can start play without repeated interruptions. For Tuesday and Thursday we
select teams at 8:10 and on Sunday at 4:30. This should allow for us to
get the game started by 8:20 or 4:40. Which in turn makes halftime at 9:05
or 5:35.

So to recap:

1. You must be in the water, with gear on, and at the wall at 8:10 or 4:30
2. If you are not, you may join in at halftime at 9:05 or 4:35.
3. No excuses.

Pretty simple, right? Well, it starts tomorrow which is Tues May 3.

Subject: B+ Clinic Announcement
duckroth
Send Email Send Email

The US Men’s Team with cooperation from Club Puck will host a B+ and
higher level clinic on June 11th and 12th. (Sorry for short notice, just
got confirmation) This is open to all male and female hockey players who
are B+ players or better. The clinic will start at 8:30am and run until
5pm on both days. Plan your travel plans accordingly. The cost is $110 per
person, which will get you clinic instruction for both days, clinic notes,
lunches and refreshments at poolside.

Space is limited so reserve your spot now! In case you don't believe it,
we will only accept 20 entries for this clinic. To enter contact Doug Roth
at duck_coach@... AND send your $100.00 check, made out to USOA to
Doug Roth, 30 Gladys Court #12, Mountain View, CA 94041. Entry deadline is
May 31, 2005. Late entries will not be accepted. All partipants must be
prepaid. Absolutely no entries accepted after May 31, 2005. In case you
aren't sure, the deadline is the deadline.

This is not a beginner clinic. If, while swimming, you don’t have general
control of the puck without looking at it, don’t bother coming, if you
can’t do one repeat on one breath, don’t waste your time, if you can’t
swim one length underwater, stay home. If you can do all these things and
are looking to improve your game, either for general fun or so you can
make one of the US National Teams, then this is where you want to be. For
those who think they might be borderline qualified, ask. We can evaluate
whether or not you will fit into this clinic.

Details of which skills and techniques for this clinic have not been
finalized but should be available in the next week or two. There will be
some classroom, some skill sessions, and some games. The planned focus
will be mostly on team skills with a couple of individual skills mixed in.

Come and learn from some of the best.

Like Uncle T, I am cancelling the little known and little discussed
Wayward-Wives/High-Energy-Disco-Impaired Mother's Day party that was
suppose to happen at Casa Caroline.

Unlike Uncle T, I am not going to be a flake and reschedule something
that I have cancelled. After all, how would one "reschedule" a
Mothers' Day party? I obviously have less control over the timing of
that ocassion than "T" does over what's being used as the basis for his
party.

As quickly pointed out to me the cost is inconsistent in this
announcement. The correct price is $110. I copied portions of the
Gainesville announcement which did not provide lunches and forgot to
change the second cost listing.

Hey all

Just a head's up for those that haven't been down lately (pun intended),
San Salvador will be closed from 10th to 8th for the next couple of weeks
or so. I forget how long but thought you all should know.

Also for SHED remember that the 8pm street parking rules still apply on
Saturdays.

.....and unfortunately the non-text portions contained all the important

stuff! So here is the text of the original message from Sean Avent in
the USA:

<<As the supply of the Mares full-footed Quattros has been discontinued,
dive
shops are quickly running out of stock or have run out all together. I
have
contacted Mares USA along with a couple other individuals and had some
progress. Mares is open to the possibility of doing a limited production
of at least
1,000 pairs for the underwater hockey community. But we need to have at
least
1,000 pairs sold to get the order.

With this in mind, if you are ordering, I suggest that you order at
least 2
pairs as they might not be made again for quite some time, if at all.
I'm not
sure that we can sell this many in the Americas at all, so this is open
worldwide. Although we are working on it, we haven't yet resolved the
issue or
distribution, but we seem to think we might have one distribution point
per
continent. The price per pair is not yet set, but it seems that it will
be around the
retail price of the fins or possibly less (I'd put a guess of
US$80-120). I'm
assuming that shipping charges will be extra, so keep this in mind. At
this
time, there may only be one color choice, but we shall inquire further.

I am trying now to see if we can get the numbers we need to fill an
order.
Please send this email or talk to people that are not on hockeynet and
let them
know. I am setting a cutoff date of one week from now to respond to this

email. At that point I'll tally all the numbers and see where we stand
to see if a
limited run is possible.

Please respond to me at sav-@... (not the hockeynet at large)
with
the following info:

1) Name
2) Number of pairs of each size that you are willing to PREPAY
for.
3) City, State (Region), Country
4) Color Preference
5) Comments

Example:

1) Sean Avent
2) 3 Pairs 6.5-7.5 (40-41)
3) San Francisco, California, USA
4) Silver
5) No comment, just get me some fins

Regards,
Sean

PS: Just in case you need to know, I, nor anyone else involved here
other
than Mares and the possible distributors are collecting any money for
this.
I'm just trying to get some fins into the hockey community and get some
myself.>>

Looks like Mares are a little more circumspect than Technisub who
totally
discounted a limited production run when they were approached (by many
including
Canada, USA, Australia, UK).

Something else to bear in mind on top of the purchase cost of these fins
and
overseas carriage will be the inevitable VAT/customs duty levied once
the
goods arrive over here, and then distribution costs within the UK or
wherever.
Whichever way you look at it these fins will not work out cheap, but in
the
absence of just about anything else useful this has to be an option
worth
considering.

Personally I'm not interested in Quattros at all and I'll stick to Alas
until
I run out of them, but in the event nobody else wants to act as the
'distributor' for the UK (perhaps the BOA shop might?) or Europe then
I'll offer myself
as the go-between. I don't run an import/export company and I don't
have
shedloads of money so just remember the single most important word in
Sean's
original message......."PREPAY".

If you're interested then respond off the forum direct to me - either to

robliscoe'at'aol.com or TAROT'at'uwh.org.uk and I'll collate the info
and forward
it to Sean Avent by his deadline, or of course direct to Sean in the
States.
Don't forget, at this point it's just an expression of intent so that
Sean can
see whether the whole thing is feasible.

Rob

PS: Just in case you need to know, I, nor anyone else involved here other than Mares and the possible distributors are collecting any money for this.  I’m just trying to get some fins into the hockey community and get some myself.

T,
We need to get together and plan a time to get the bar to my house. Also we
will need to get supplies for the bar & runners: bottles of water, juice,
enhancers for the juice, ice, cups, little umbrellas, maybe even snacks, in
case some people only run The Bay To Fell St If anyone has a preference let
me or T know soon. Of cource its all about the runners...lol!

Joey,

Sometime Saturday would be best to get the thing over there. I don't know
my schedule, as I'm deep in a client crisis, but I should have time sometime
in the afternoon. What's your schedule look like?

Greetings to our family and friends,
It's with great excitement that I announce the arrival of our much anticipated baby!  Thank you all for your loving support through this long and sometimes painful process.  We've all had our patience tested, and still you didn't give up the hope.  Your concern and gentle queries are much appreciated, but now you can breathe a sigh of relief.  The wait is finally over!  Everyone is doing great and we are very happy!  What a beautiful baby, even if I do say so myself!

We'll be handling her with careful hands, testing and adjusting her surroundings for a while before you can visit her, but I've attached a photo of her birth for you to enjoy while you wait your turn at visits and celebration!

More later, after the recovery!

Just a quick reminder about the B+ and higher level Clinic in San Jose, CA
on June 11 and 12. Reservations and money have started to come in so if
you haven't made your decision to come yet, get on it before all the spots
are filled. This clinic is four weeks before Nationals so you should have
a fresh boost of knowledge and practical experience to help your team
succeed.

A while back there was a lot of talk about setting up a rookie day and all
that like the San Francisco club has done. I volunteered to work with it but
no one gave me the "yes go ahead and do it".

So is anyone working on this or is the issue dead?

The only reason I'm asking is Julie is planning to give it another try when
I can get back in the water. Thanks a lot to Mandy and the other people that
helped her for her first try of the sport.

Greg, I'd like to help with rookie day.  I'd like to play at Club Puck more, but as a newer player, the games can sometimes be a bit intense.  I would love to help get new people in the SJ area to play.  Let me know what to do.
---Althea
p.s. I don't know if putting the words "dead" and "rookie" in the new player marketing materials is really such a good idea though....
