Brian,

What condition Hutch are you looking for?
I have a pre serial number/brake bridge stamp Hutch.
It is rare. I was told that it was Hutch's first
series frames that were built by Torker back in either
80' or 81'.

Earl,

Torker never made frames for HUTCH. Profile and Thruster ( Speed
Unlimited ) did though. Does the frame still have the original decals
intact? Do you have any pics?

Jim,

You're right. I meant Thruster not Torker. It does
have the original decals but all are faded except one
(the down tube decal). I believe there is a crack on
the brake bridge but I'm not sure. It could be stress
fractures in the chrome. If you have any knowledge
about this frame let me know. All of the input that
I've received and the research that I've done since
I've purchased it is exactly how I've described it.

I tried e-mailing some photos but I received a message
stating that I had exceeded the size limit. If you
have a regular e-mail, I'll send them to you. Thanks.

Earl

How big are you? I am guessing you will need a pro sized frame like a
Pro Racer or Judge if you actually intend to race this bike. I have
raced a 1985 Hutch Judge for the past 3 years, and I am now
considering selling the frame, fork, bars, 2 seat clamps, 1 slightly
cut down seat post and a mediun sized 2n1 headlock (all Hutch parts)
and will include the headset (odessey) and 2 reproduction Hutch pads
(bar & top tube)as a package. I am open to offers over $1000 US plus
shipping if it is international.
The frame has been re-finished in a gloss black powdercoat. When they
did the powdercoating they were a little over zealous in stripping
the chrome and created a few tiny pin holes in the toptube. These
have not affected the integrity of the frame, as I have raced and
jumped the bike for 3 years since. To make the bike perfect I would
suggest having it stripped again, have a competent welder fill the
pinholes with a bit of brass and refinish it. For a rider/racer I
chose to leave them as is so I could inspect them regularly to see if
there was any change in them. There has not been.

check here for some pix of the bike built up:
http://www.drewfusnation.com/1985hutchjudge.htm
and here for proof that it is still VERY raceable:
http://www.drewfusnation.com/racepix.htm

contact me via email drewmonroe(at)hotmaildotcom
if you are interested, don't sleep though, I have a local buyer
interested in it coming to see it in a week.

Hey guys,

I have a Pro Raider from 1984 that I'm restoring (it's mine originally,
raced it when I was 12) and I'm keeping it mostly stock but I'm
replacing the hubs with sealed units and want to do the same for the
BB. I had upgraded to 3-piece cranks a long time ago (not sure what
brand they are, but they have a Shimano DX spindle and a sugino chain
ring) that have a square tapered spindle.

Now, what I need to know is what kind of BB to get? I am pretty sure
it's going to be something like a 63/127 right?

If anyone can point me into what will fit and what won't I'd be much
appreciated!

Many thanks.

Are you looking for period correct BB set or just a new American
Sealed set? I upgraded my Pro Racer with my original Sugino GT 3-piece
set with a Tioga sealed bearing conversion kit. Tioga #CK-170SB, it
comes with a new spindle(standard square taper) cup set and bearings
and it's own wrench. It's 80's NOS, the person I bought it from sells
on e-bay under Earlstuff. He has a huge warehouse of NOS bike parts
only a few miles from my house. I can see if he has more. I think I
paid around $35-40 for it. You can also try contacting him through e-
bay he has his e-mail on his auctions. Otherwise Dan's Comp has one
for $29.99 on the website that would probably work part #455021.
Standard American/127mm comes with everything needed. Hope this helps.

Hello all,

I look forward to conversing with you all about the bikes we all love
HUTCH. I lived (and still live) 5 minutes from teh old Hutch Factory
on Benson avenue in Baltimore MD. I remember many a day when I and my
friends, would go to the factory, and do the old dumpster dive,
looking for any scrap of Hutch Equipment (Albeit flawed slightly,
sometimes) that we could find.
As a 35 year old parent of a 4 year old boy, I see him riding his
bike now, and it beckons me back to the days when my dad bought me my
first HUTCH. It was used, but it was sweeeeet.Pro Racer Frame and
fork, USA Hutch Bars, Hutch Aerospeeds,Hutch Beartraps (also known in
our circle as "Shin Grinders") Then only thing on this ride that
wasnt USA Hutch were the bearings,Brakes, rims, seat, and tires.
Unfortunately this bike wasstolen from me by a kid I knew in an
adjacent neighborhood. Being a city kid, with no real luxury, I never
insured or registered it,so I could not track it.
Gone forever.

However,,
I recently spoke to an old machinist friend of mine, who used to work
at the Hutch factory.
He happened to have a BLACK PRO RACER that was given to him as a
severance when the shop closed,(Which if I remember correctly,BLACK
Pro Racers were pretty rare in the shops when I was a kid),that he
sold to me and I am currently rebuilding.

So far the project is a work in progress, but I will post some pics
under "Buldgmans Hutch"

Oh yeah, and about the 4 year old.....He has his own "Pro Raider"
that I picked up on EBAY for a song and dance, needs a little TLC,
but I'll post pics of it too for those that are interested in the
Taiwan models.
Since hes four, he doesnt need to kill a USA made pc. YET!.......

Welcome to the group,
Good to see you showing the beauty of the Hutch to the next generation.
Your rebuild looks good, keep at it.
When I got my Pro Racer back from a friend I had traded it to, it had
been powder coated black. The only other black one I had seen and I
believe it was an original black Pro Racer/Pro Star was ridden in
Australia by Michael "Killer" Kilpatrick a pro factory rider here. He
raced it with black tuff wheels. It was the most amazing bike and it
ran full hutch componentry including aerospeeds.
Cheers,
Picker

Steve I have a some of the decals in black on clear and can try to
include a few of that version. The lots are only $5.00 for 15 decals
though. I could probably sell the hub pairs for $5.00 on EGay. LOL.

Thanks to everybody that bought a few......

They all went out already (last batch will go out after I post this).....

Offer ends tonight at 12:00 midnight central standard time........

Be sure to contact me when the decals arrive so I know they weren't
lost or that there were any other mis-haps......
