I haven’t been out to my favorite friendly Houge,
Jenny Strand, or Encinal games much lately due to commitments with the kids and
particularly this triathlon, but rest assured I’m still alive, and happy
to be that way. I’ve lost a few pounds and am planning to run y’all
into the ground later this yearJ Some folks
are looking for opportunities to help but don’t know what to do and
aren’t asked. If you are one of those folks, here is an opportunity
and request. Bill is a south bay ultimate player as well.

I’ve joined a group called “Team in
Training” and signed up to compete in an Olympic triathlon. Yes,
you are reading this correctly. I asked the doctor if I could run
triathlons after chemo and she said absolutely. Perhaps I should have
told her I’d never run one before chemoJ
I’m going to swim 1.5 kilometers, bike 40 kilometers and run 10
kilometers (that’s 1 mile, 25 miles and 6 miles) all in one go.
I’ve promised to raise $4,800 for The Leukemia and
Lymphoma Society. Although I could have just trained on my own, I decided
to join Team in Training because I wished to raise money to fight cancer.
The money that I’ll be raising will be donated to cancer research,
patient services and education. Since its inception, Team in Training has
raised hundreds of millions of dollars. I
want to do my part.
So, here’s where you come in. I’d like you
to consider donating money to help me reach my second goal: raising
$4,800 for cancer research. All donations are 100% tax deductible and go
to a very noble cause.
As I’m sure you’ll
agree, you’ve got the easy part of this
deal. I have to sweat & suffer, while YOU only need to
send some money to charity. Donating is
easy! You can send me a check and I’ll match it (see
attached form) or you can do it online. If you click on the “donate
now” link on the left, you can make a donation using a credit card.
If your company does matching, please contact me on how to submit if you have
questions. If your company doesn’t have a match, make checks/cash
out to Brian Johnson and I’ll double your donation with my corporate
match if you’d like.
Don’t forget to drop me an e-mail so I can send you
updates about how you are making me, you, and the world better.
My good friend Bill and sister Brenda participating with
me. Thanks Bill & Brenda!!!

The kids, Stan, Ron, Terry, and I just participated in the Stanford
Treeathlon. This was the first for the kids and I, and a training
milestone for me. The kids did a duathlon (bike & run), Bjorn clipped
an orange cone and crashed, but soldiered on and finished in tears. Way
to go Bjorn!
