Finally, CW, something we agree on. I HATE this Goddamn Groups thing.
I won't write Finley off before the season starts. Yeah, he's
getting old anmd yeah he's had some nagging injuries, but if the
Tribe is going to have any chance at success this year, he'll have to
be one of the guys who comes through. A .500 record and an ERA
between 4.00 and 4.50 would be a GOOD thing.
I'll agree, the baseball should be a little more fun to watch this
year. At least in terms of watching some active players trying to
scrap it out. But less fun in watching WINNING baseball. Not that
this team can't win, but they'll need guys like Finley, Fryman,
Anderson, Vizquel to return to some semblance of their old selves.
In addition, guys like Bradley, Drese, and Baez will have to mature
in a hurry and the others will just have to perform like we know they
can. And they better hope the injury bug STOPS biting so Goddamn
hard. In other words, everything needs to go right for a change.
These guys aren't talented enough to win in the face of adversity
like they've faced for the last few years.
I thought what happened to Cabrera was bad enough, but the Escobar
thing really sucks. Not so much for this year because it's not
likely he'd have made the team. But a complete tear of the ACL is
the kind of thing that's been known to end careers.
Think good thoughts, then drink good beer.
