//Bucks will need to be undefeated to return to the title game next year.
I've read this statement or something like it several times since the game on
Monday night and to be honest, part of me agrees with it. However, I'm also
sort of torn because I don't think there is a portion of the BCS formula that
takes into consideration "Team has played in last two title games and has not
won, nor played real well."
If OSU has more BCS points than all but one other team at the end of the season,
they will play in the game again. Its that simple. Yeah, there will be a
public outcry BUT again, the BCS is a formula. Its that simple.
Again though, keep in mind, part of me agrees with the statement above.

I'm sure the BCS TV schedule is designed to maximize ratings -- not necessarily
to maximize viewership of the championship game. Nothing wrong with that, I
guess. TV networks have to make money. By having one major bowl on Saturday
night, people will watch. People who want to see the BCS title game will watch
it no matter when it is on. This year's ratings were probably pretty low because
this wasn't much of a matchup. Neither team was so intriguing that you had to
see them.
Bucks will need to be undefeated to return to the title game next year.

Now New Year's Day is like any other minor holiday, and except for the
people who are sleeping off hangovers from the night before, it might as
well be a work day. Malls are open, people are out spending their gift
cards, etc. I think the BCS system as it stands now has devalued the NY day
bowls so that unless you have a vested interest in one of the games, why
watch. Also for the BCS game. Having it a week later on a Monday night, I
can't help but think the ratings were terrible, only LSU and OSU fans
watching. Has anyone seen real numbers? At least they hype the Super Bowl
with commercials and keep it on Sunday, although with the playoffs going on
in the NFL, I guess a Sunday game is out.
