1. MORE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Help in the promotion of
Badminton in the Chicagoland Area!
[We have 12 great volunteers! But we still need more help...
Specially with the site assessment/evaluation! Deadline for
the site assessment is July 29, 2008...]
Chicago Park District (CPD) is introducing
Badminton for Kids in their Fall 2008 program (In
41 [forty one] CPD locations!). This will be the
biggest roll-out of badminton in new facilities
at one time in the US! In preparation,
volunteers are needed to train CPD instructors and
assess/oversee/assist various CPD venues - and in
general help with this program.
We need more help with the site evaluation/assessment!

Also, coaching the CPD staff for badminton will be
sometime middle September, in Chicago's Edgewater
area and likely be on a weekday (e.g. You may need
to take time off from work to help.) Everyone who
Volunteers for the CPD Staff coaching clinic will get
sports attire and other perks..!
Travel and other incidental expenses (Gas, Parking etc)
will be reimbursed.

Bach and Indonesian Tony Gunawan won the 2005
World Championship. Bach was the first American
to advance beyond the quarterfinals in
international badminton, a sport dominated by
Asian countries. Though the American duo is a
longshot, 7,500 crazies in the arena at Beijing
University of Technology will be screaming at the
Chinese, winners of 21 of 57 Olympic medals.
Gunawan, the best doubles player in the world,
can't compete in Beijing. He's working on his U.S.
citizenship and coaches the duo. ..."
