1. USAB looking for Midwest representation on Board.
The USAB board has been dissolved and there is a spot on the board for a Midwest
representative. Mary Ann Bowles, on the nominating committee is inviting
applications from anyone interested in the Chicago area - since we have a large
concentration of players here. Please send an e-mail to Mary Ann if you or some
else you know would be a good candidate.

2. No Play @ McKinley
On Tuesday June 17, 2008 McKinley Park Badminton
will be closed. One of the ceiling fans fell. So
until further notice McKinley Park Badminton is
closed.

Sorry for the Short Notice.

3. Bagging Birdies
Head rackets, long synonymous with innovation in
the tennis world, have moved into the badminton
arena. These Nano feature an elongated head and
bigger sweet spot, making that postbarbecue
doubles match a little more intense. Nano 600
(slightly heavier for more control), $80; Nano 700
(lighter for more racket-head speed), $90.

[Maybe a good sign of an increasing badminton market?
or a sign that the media does not get it - "postbarbecue doubles" indeed! ]

4. The high school year in review: A championship recap
Karishma Kollipara became just the third player
in the tournament's 32-year history to win three
singles championships and led Hinsdale Central to
its first badminton title. Hinsdale South, behind
doubles champions Deepa Ramadurai and Anjylla
Foster, tied Lincoln-Way Central for second place.
